Job Responsibilities

The Department of Mental Health is a drug-free workplace.  All candidates will be required to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug test.
                                                                                  
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 164 Waccamaw Medical Park Drive, Conway, SC 29526.

Under direct supervision, provides therapeutic services for the Adult  and C&A outpatient services of the South Strand Satellite Office for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health. Provides  counseling and case management dealing with situations encompassing interpersonal, health and psychosocial factors. In addition as needed will provide intensive, time limited in-home
services to families in which a child is in imminent risk of being placed outside the home, MST (Multisystemic) therapy.

Provides therapy, emergency services and case management services to persons experiencing emotional disturbances, to include assessments, crisis intervention, individual, group and family therapy, patient and family education. Also as needed provide in-home intensive system of MST (Multisystemic) therapy. The expectation is that the employee will provide counseling services to clients of the WCMH on a full-time basis (37.5 hrs/week), maintaining an average bill time
 of direct service hours to 840 hours annualized hours and/or 732 hours annually/average 61 hours monthly when providing MST services.
  
Maintains documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, local, SCDMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF standards.
 
Provides a variety of coordination and consultation services with the school, community agencies, and DMH staff.  Educates the community through workshops and presentations in regard to children and mental health issues.
 
Performs other related duties as required by supervisor and/or Director of Clinical Services. Provides MST on-call services as directed by the MST Supervisor/Clinic Director.  

 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirements:  Bachelor's degree and professional experience in human services or social services programs.

 
Agency Requirements:  Master's Degree in guidance, counseling or social sciences in a clinical counseling program. Also preferred experience working with children. adolescents and their families in a MST (Multi-Systemic Therapy Program) Applicants must be  able to meet DMH credentialing requirements .  Licensed preferred but not required.

Note:  If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position.
 

Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of the range and scope of services provided in a comprehensive mental health program serving  Adults, children and families and the unique treatment  needs of this special population.  Ability to integrate and coordinate services with those of other disciplines and to communicate effectively.  The employee will be able to perform case management,  interviewing and assessment skills.  Will participate in on-going inservice training  and other educational opportunities in order to maintain and/or acquire  necessary skills.    Preferences:  Master's degree in the counseling field with 1 year of experience working with individuals in a therapeutic setting of mental health.  Interpersonal sensitivity.  Expertise at handling a challenging caseload

 

Additional Comments

Will provide MST after hours emergency services. Also the MST Program will require a flexible/non-traditional work schedule to meet the needs of the client and their families. MST Clinician will provide services where the child (home, school, community setting, etc.), is and on call 24 hours day, 7 days a week as needed. Traveling is required.
