Job Responsibilities

This position is located within the Foster Care Review Board (FCRB) division of the Department of Administration. The incumbent serves as the director of FCRB. Under limited supervision, the incumbent manages, develops, and directs the overall operation of the FCRB, the South Carolina Heart Gallery, and other special programs in accordance with state and federal law. Oversees the daily activities of staff of FCRB, assuring that reviews are held in a timely manner in cooperation with the Department of Social Services (DSS), that review data is recorded in a timely manner, and court reports are filed within required time frames. Provides new member orientation for all new local review members. Ensures the FCRB operates within budgeted funds and maintains inventory of equipment. In overseeing the Heart Gallery's operations, the incumbent ensures photo shoots and exhibits are held in accordance with DSS contract. Ensures home studies are performed properly and timely in accordance with DSS contract. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience in health care, social services, or child welfare. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures. Ability to manage and oversee a budget and authorized expenditures of state and federal funds. Incumbent must be able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion within the program. This position may require working evenings and/or weekends, traveling overnight, frequent lifting up to 30 lbs, and reporting to work during emergency or hazardous weather situations. Incumbent must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license as this position requires frequent driver duties. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview.  A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application, if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant.  Please note that some areas  of the Department may require an official, certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area, after hiring.  Failure to produce an official, certified transcript may result in not being hired or termination.
