The newly formed Paid Family and Medical Leave division is looking to hire a (Project) Release and Configuration Management Specialist (ITS3).  In this role you will support the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems and software operations on a large, complex, new line of business, policy and formal rule development.  Whether you are just starting out or looking to advance your IT career, this position will help you build experience and skills necessary for both government and private sector jobs.

Responsibilities

This position will be a technical level specialist in release management, assisting the work efforts, as directed by a supervisor, and assisting in prioritizing tasks. This position also will collaborate with ESD IT architects to align with the WITS & PFML technology strategic roadmap.

Some of what you'll be doing:

  • Builds production hosting environments for ESD PFML.  This includes design, implementation and 24/7 support of productions environment.
  • Provides high level troubleshooting support for agency wide production custom code applications and COTS solutions.
  • Identifies opportunities for improving deployment of custom code applications and COTS.
  • Architects, writes, debugs, and maintains code in source control repositories to complete task efficiently and reliably through automation.
  • Designs and develops installation and migration plans for custom code applications and COTS, focusing on approaches that allow for efficient integration with other systems and minimal disruption, by conducting needs assessments, requirements analysis and evaluating applications for deployment readiness.
  • Identifies areas of improvement in security for applications and systems.  Works with multiple teams to apply security best practices. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related field  OR  A combination of education and/or relevant IT experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in Systems Security and knowledge of systems security issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with modern Windows server operating systems (2008R2/2012R2/2016), IIS, and troubleshooting methodologies.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automated application deployments with technologies such as Octopus Deploy, Azure Resource manager or Microsoft Release Management
  • Demonstrated skills in C#, ASP.NET, MVC, and T-SQL.
  • Skill with Continuous Integration tools such as Visual Studio Team Services, Jenkins, Teamcity, and Bamboo
  • Skill using software container technology such as Docker or Windows Containers
  • Skill with Continuous Deployment systems
  • Demonstrated skill with PowerShell scripting
  • Knowledge of code repositories such as TFS, Subversion or GIT
  • Experience working in an Agile Environment.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
 
State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).  New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs.  For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.
 
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).  This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
 
Vacation (Annual Leave)
 
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.
