Job Responsibilities

The Department of Mental Health is a drug-free workplace.  All candidates will be required to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug test.
                                                                                   
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 164 Waccamaw Medical Park Drive, Conway, SC 29526.

Under direct supervision by the Director of Special Services, plans, implements and coordinates (TLC) and (ACT-like) services throughout the catchment area of Waccamaw Center for Mental Health (Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg counties). Functions as Waccamaw Centers liaison for state psychiatric hospital facilities, screening clients for placement in the WCMH catchment area. Coordinates the Toward Local Care and Assertive Community (ACT-like) programs center wide. Develops systems and procedures to delivers services to this specialized population. Programmatic and administrative management of TLC and ACT-like services; planning and development of expansion of TLC and ACT-like programs within the center.

Provide clinical supervision of TLC and ACT-like program staff. Provide supervision to Homeshare Providers and CRCF liaison. Assists in statewide planning and development of TLC and ACT-like programs; submits required reports in a timely manner. Screen and assess clients in the state hospital setting for appropriate placement in the community. Attends center level management team meetings on a regular basis, providing reports and input as needed in developing goals for the Center and special needs population of the TLC and ACT-like programs. 

Maintains documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, Local, SCDMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF standards. Performs other related duties as required by Supervisor and/or Executive Director. 
 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirements: A bachelor's degree and professional experience in human service or social services program.

Agency Requirements: A doctorate degree in social sciences and one (1) year of post graduate experience in a community mental health program or master's degree in social sciences and four (4) years of post graduate experience. One (1) year of which must have been in community mental health programs or 48 hours towards a doctorate in psychology and 3 years of post graduate. Experience in working with the chronically mentally ill population. Must be be able to meet DMH credentialing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of community services provided by other public and private agencies. Ability to integrate and coordinate services with those other disciplines and in other community agencies. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, and representative of other professional disciplines. Knowledge of psychopathology and client management within a psychiatric setting. 

Additional Comments

This position will provide center wide supervsion to programs outlined throughout the WCMH catchment area. Travel will be required.
