The Assistant Bioterrorism Coordinator develops, coordinates, and implements the plans related to the federal Strategic National Stockpile medical countermeasure program. Planning activities include developing operational protocols and procedures, and identifying the human and physical resources needed for receiving, storing and dispensing SNS medical assets to the public in a medical emergency.

Examples of Duties

Writes, maintains, and coordinates a public health emergency response plan for Denton County that addresses bioterrorism, infectious diseases, and the public health emergency response; coordinates with appropriate local, regional, state, federal, and private partners; deployment of health and medical resources in times of disaster; and dispenses appropriate pharmaceuticals from the SNS.

Assists in the development of grant budget and deliverables.

Assists in the training of staff and other response volunteers to maintain readiness.

Assists in the overall coordination effort during emergencies with schools, universities, hospitals, organizations, and other response partners.

Periodically reviews, re-writes as needed, and maintains the all-hazards disaster preparedness plan (Annex H) for the county.

Participates in planning activities with local, regional, state, federal, and private partners; and provides a leadership role in the community for public health emergency response.

Participates in regional emergency response planning, and the development of resource sharing agreements/policies across the DFW metroplex.

Identifies resource requirements and assist in the development of yearly budgets.

Prepares written reports, oral briefings, and other programmatic documents; as required.
Ensures integration with federal, state, and regional emergency plans and procedures.

Identifies facilities and personnel resources within the county to achieve the rapid and effective distribution of SNS resources. 

Develops plans and processes for setting up and operating SNS dispensing and/or immunization clinics/sites. Components of the plan include incident command, triage, education and training,
patient safety, state legal requirements, badging and credentialing, registration, dispensing, record keeping, physical layout, and security.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.
 

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum three years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Possession of a valid driver's license.   Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment.
