Job Responsibilities

 
  • Under general supervision of a qualified mental health professional, performs counseling and supportive services for mentally ill inmates consisting of social skills groups, reviewing treatment plans, recreational activities, developing and implementing re-entry assessment goals.
  • Establish a supportive, motivational and therapeutic relationship within the parameters of a correctional environment.
  • Plans, organize and lead structured programs including individual and group therapeutic services.
  • Provides focus intervention in  collaboration with SCDC clinical and custody staff to enhance  skills and effective management of inmates.
  • Assists with custody related duties such as transportation, supervision of recreation and suicide watch.
  • Attend divisional meetings and staff training as required.

**schedule subject to fluctuate 8am-4pm; 11am-7pm to   include after hour and on-site weekend/holiday coverage to assigned institution - ** Lieber CI.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of SC Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and professional experience in human services or social services programs. (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the division of state human resources).

SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and two (2) years experience in a mental health related field; or an associate's degree and four (4) years experience in a mental health related field.   Must successful complete basic training.
