Job Responsibilities

This position is located within the Office of Administrative Services of the Department of Administration (Admin). Under general supervision, the incumbent will provide analysis, design, development, documentation, implementation, and support of database management systems (DBMS) for Admin IT. The incumbent will analyze data requirements, applications and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s). Will oversee database maintenance and upgrades, and work with other technical personnel and users to plan and test upgrades, patches, and server changes. Will lead in the development of an overall data architecture that supports the information needs of the agency in a flexible but secure environment. Incumbent will also work closely with customers, coworkers, and manager to respond to customer requests for service by resolving trouble tickets, filling orders for new and/or additional services, and responding to questions or requests for information. Will perform other applications duties as required to keep Admin IT applications operational and functioning. 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field and at least one year of experience in systems development and maintenance, technical support or the support of complex database management systems. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience and skilled in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Transact-SQL, data modeling, database backup and recovery, performance management and tuning, capacity planning, database auditing procedures, Team Foundation Server, and Microsoft SQL Server. Moderate to complex knowledge of database management systems, concepts, and design methodologies. Knowledge of database structures, operating systems, data security, systems integrity, and monitoring and auditing activities. Ability to integrate technical systems with agency goals and objectives. This position may require overnight travel, working evenings and/or weekends, and on-call shifts and call back.  Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview.  A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application, if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant.  Please note that some areas  of the Department may require an official, certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area, after hiring.  Failure to produce an official, certified transcript may result in not being hired or termination.
