Job Responsibilities

This position will telecommute within Williamsburg, Georgetown, and Horry Counties.

The person in this position will conduct ongoing monitoring, training, mentoring and technical assistance visits to support approved pre-kindergarten providers.  Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement plans required as a condition of participation in First Steps' Pre-kindergarten Program.  Conduct on-site evaluations of pre-kindergarten provider applicants.  Prepare and submit evaluation summaries to the Office of South Carolina First Steps.  Document all provider visits and feedback, and prepare communications as needed.  Coordinate with Chief Program Officer, 4K State Manager, First Steps staff, other agency partners as necessary to establish and implement public-private 4K program guidelines, training, and monitoring structures.  Prepare training and provide program updates for First Steps' staff as appropriate.  Serve as a liaison between approved providers and local First Steps County Partnerships for the purpose of coordinating parenting services and expanded technical assistance.  Stay abreast of current research relating to pre-kindergarten practices and outcomes, and develop briefings as needed for state and local staff, agency partners, and boards.  Develop regional training and professional development to support First Steps' pre-kindergarten providers.  Perform other assigned duties.

This position is located in the Office Of First Steps.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and experience in education, management or business.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of child development and early childhood pedagogy; technical assistance/mentoring, early childhood classroom quality assessment and child assessment; pre-kindergarten teaching and SC Early Childhood teacher certification.
