Job Responsibilities

This position will require extensive travel in the following counties: Fairfield, Laurens, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Saluda, and York.

The person in this will position promote the delivery of high quality developmentally appropriate infant/toddler education experiences that facilitate growth and development, support school readiness, and comply with Federal Head Start Performance Standards, Early Learning Standards, licensing regulations, and Quality Initiatives.  Monitor the implementation of Creative Curriculum and Teach Strategies, Conscious Discipline, Ages and Stages Questionnaires, Third Edition (ASQ-3) and  Ages and Stages Questionnaire: Social-Emotional (ASQ-Se). Develop and follow a regular schedule for conducting classroom program observations.  Establish and maintain a trustful, confidential relationship with teachers by providing reflections from observations and datahelp develop their autonomy as professionals.  Utilize a variety of tools and resources to ensure appropriate mentoring/coaching supports are provided including: reading materials, modeling, videotaping, reflective practices, and other resources to guide learning.  Assist teachers with the development and implementation of weekly lesson plans, daily routines and goal documentation, and ensure the incorporation of parent engagement, individualization, Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) goals and multi-cultural and multi-lingual support.  Ensure a team approach to service delivery; communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with internal staff and external partners.  Assist with identifying areas of growth and professional development; assist with arranging and presenting staff trainings.  Maintain and submit classroom observation and health and safety monitoring, and coaching documentation of each center.  Monitor classroom practices and environment to ensure that the curriculum is implemented with fidelity.  Other duties as assigned.

This position is located in the Office of First Steps.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree in school administration, education, special education, counseling or a related field and experience in educational programs.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in early childhood or related field. Preferred:  Five (5) years of experience in child development and/or early childhood education
