Job Description

Why does the job exist?
Love New Mexico True? A big part of our identity is fostered by a strong visual presence. The marketing team at the New Mexico Tourism Department is looking for a skilled graphic designer who can take our ideas and convert them seamlessly into social-ready images, web headers, printed collateral and other marketing pieces and branding exercises. We're looking for a highly professional team-player candidate who has an understanding of how marketing campaigns work in order to support a strong and ever-expanding brand identity.

How does it get done?
The Graphic Designer creates visual aspects of marketing materials, websites and other media for the primary New Mexico True brand, as well as related brands (such as New Mexico True Certified and Keep New Mexico True).  This position will collaborate with in-house managers of social media, web, and Public Relations to create designs for campaigns and initiatives; work in conjunction with our agency of record as design lead on non-campaign projects and design backup on campaign projects.

Who are the customers?
The first "customer" is the internal stakeholder who needs graphic design assistance. The second is our partners: other state agencies or folks within strategic partnerships who need design help. The third is the would-be travelers to New Mexico and other in-state travelers.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal Graphic Designer has a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art, Graphic Design, Marketing or related training or work experience; has worked with the entire Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign specifically, though other programs will be considered) with mockups, web design and multimedia presentation; experience in professional commercial design, preferably with a marketing or creative agency or an in-house brand; has experience leading creative teams and designing with other professionals; and has the ability to receive constructive criticism from in-house and constituency stakeholders.

THIS POSTING WILL BE USED TO CONDUCT ONGOING RECRUITMENT AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED.

This position is a Pay Band 55.
