THE POSITION:

The City of Hemet is seeking a highly motivated, experienced professional to function as the manager of the City's Human Resources Division. Under supervision of the City Manager's office, the incumbent will assist in the operation and management activities of the division; establish operational objectives; direct organizational development and training; recommend and implement change; manage personnel programs, policies, systems and services and collective bargaining processes and agreements; and perform related duties as required.

Supplemental Information

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: A Bachelor's degree with major course work in human resources management, public administration or a related field. A Master's degree is desirable.
 
Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in an administrative capacity in human resources. Public sector experience desired.

Healthcare Coverage:
  • Employer contribution of $1,028.81 for employee and dependent(s) medical coverage
  • $100 per month employer contribution to employees' deferred compensation plan (in lieu of any other retiree health insurance benefit)
Dental & Vision Coverage:
  • Employer paid dental & vision coverage for employee and dependent(s)
Life & Long Term Disability Insurance:
  • $50,000 employer paid term life insurance policy
  • Employer paid long term disability insurance
Deferred Compensation:
  • City contributes 2% of monthly salary and the City will match employee contributions up to $150 per month
Educational Reimbursement:
  • $2,000 per calendar year
Leave:
  • 31 days per year of PTO (Personal Time Off) for the first twelve years of service
  • 8 hours per month Sick Leave
  • 12 paid Holidays + 2 floating holidays per year
Retirement:
  • The City contracts with the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS)
  • Classic Members: 2.5% at 55 Formula; 1959 survivor benefit; final compensation based on single highest year; employee contributes 8%;  (no Social Security deduction).
  • PEPRA (New) Members: 2% at 62 Formula; 1959 survivor benefit;  final compensation based on a three-year average; employee contributes 50% of total normal cost, currently 6.75% (no Social Security deduction).
