Position Summary

The Department of Social Work has been continuously accredited as a CSWE baccalaureate program since 1982.  The mission of the undergraduate social work program at Colorado State University - Pueblo is to prepare students for beginning generalist social work practice across client systems.  The program is committed to promoting social and economic justice through excellence, creativity and innovation.  A strong knowledge, value and skill base is incorporated into the curriculum.  The social work major is offered in both Pueblo and Colorado Springs.

This twelve month Administrative Professional position develops agency placements for BSW students in the Pueblo and Colorado Springs area, and places students in appropriate agency settings.  The position includes teaching courses consistent with CSWE accreditation standards and Faculty Handbook requirements.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Duties

  • Identify, develop and maintain appropriate field settings and field instructors, inform and train field instructors on requirements of field instruction, and develop formal agreements with agencies and field instructors to accept field students.
  • Arrange placement of field students in accordance with agency and field instructor capacity and student interests and needs.
  • Keep systematic electronic records on field placement sites and field students.
  • Propose curriculum changes and field-related program modifications to the Department faculty, and participate in assessment activity in accordance with changes in CSWE standards.
  • Screen students for admission into the Social Work Program and for Field placement.
  • Advise students on their professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSW in Social Work
  • 2 years of social work experience post-MSW in a direct practice, community practice, or clinical setting
  • Experience as a field instructor for social work students in CSWE accredited programs
  • Broad knowledge of social service delivery systems
  • Experience working with diverse populations and nontraditional students
  • Ability to travel to agencies throughout southeastern Colorado
Preferred Qualifications
  • Social work licensure currently in good standing
  • Experience in a BSW accredited program
  • Knowledge of the social service system in southeast Colorado
  • Previous experience advising and mentoring social work students
  • Experience with diverse populations of the southern Colorado region
  • Two years of College or University experience in an accredited BSW program
