Job Description

Responsible for manufacturing, installing, and maintenance of all signs and pavement markings in the City of Denton

Essential Functions

  • Installs, repairs, and replace signs/posts within the City of Denton.
  • Installs and maintains all raised pavement markers within the city of Denton
  • Installs and maintains all thermoplastic/paint pavement markings including long line, stop bars, crosswalks, directional arrows, and school zones
  • Determines sign and pavement marking needs in the field
  • Manufactures street signs and traffic control road signs per the Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for streets and highways and City of Denton specifications
  • Interprets engineering drawings for projects incorporating the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and existing field conditions
  • Maintains daily log and accurate records of work completed.
  • Repairs and maintains equipment used for the job
  • Assists Signal Technician on signal projects: traffic control, pulling wire, installation of conduit, etc.
Additional Duties:
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One to three years outdoor construction related experience 
  • Six months sign and marking experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance

Conditions of Employment

  • Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 30 days of hire per state law)
  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
  • Must pass a physical examination
  • Must have a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement within six months of employment
  • Must obtain IMSA Level 1 Signs and Markings within 1 year
  • Must be able to work overtime when requested
  • Must be able to work in all kinds of weather
Preferences:
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Previous experience with graphics and sign manufacturing equipment
