SUMMARY

This position is also eligible for tips.

Under direction, provides prompt, efficient and friendly service of food and beverages to customers at the Thorncreek Golf Course.  Schedules beverage cart staff and orders alcohol inventory. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides excellent customer service to customers and members of the golf course facilities. Leads by example. Acts in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Works with all golf operations and maintenance staff to ensure the highest level of member and guest satisfaction.

Directs, trains, and works with all food and beverage staff with a focus on inside food service, beverage cart, and bar service.

Maintains and keeps all records concerning food and beverage sales, cash tickets, member charges, etc. Performs basic math skills. Itemizes bills correctly and efficiently secures payment. Responsible for the accounting of monies received. Accounts for all receipts and makes deposits.

Completes daily inventory of all products in both food and beverage in order to maintain proper service levels.  Completes weekly inventory of beverage related items (beer, liquor, mixers, garnish, etc.) and creates ordering sheets. Notifies the appropriate personnel when items need to be ordered. Maintains and updates proper par levels and provides input on add/subtract of items for sale.

Develops drinks menu items and works with management on establishing portion control, costs, and menu costs for these items.  Provides and suggests changes for recipes for all these items.

Provides timely food and beverage service to guests including, but not limited to, distributing menus, making menu recommendations, taking food and beverage orders, submitting orders to kitchen, preparing or mixing both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, placing food and beverages on trays, adding garnishes or other appropriate ingredients, and delivering and serving orders. 

Assists in regular inspections of the service areas to ensure that all preventive maintenance, safety, sanitation, and all other standard operating policies and procedures are consistently achieved. Removes soiled dishes from tables.  Keeps all condiments stocked and clean. Keeps bar area clean, in good working order, and stocked appropriately with beer, liquor, cups and lids, ice, etc.  Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all service areas and assigned tables.  Helps in the restaurant and clubhouse where needed.

Has thorough knowledge of menu contents, daily specials, and basic preparation of each. Has thorough knowledge of beverages and promotions.  Creates display information to promote specials at the bar.

Directs and follows-up with staff to keep beverage cart fueled, stocked and iced, and in clean and good working order.

Ensures that all legal requirements are met pertaining to food and beverage service, cleanliness, and storage. Observes and enforces all local, state, and federal liquor laws and helps to train staff to these standards and procedures.  Protects course and city from liability and image with regard to serving intoxicated persons.

Assists with special events or banquets, including set-up and clean-up.  Works special events and banquets. May be required to take lead on an event or group.  This includes talking to customer and helping create pricing, order, menu and recipes; supervising event and event staff, and charging customer for event.

Attends regular meetings with all golf staff.

May be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Drives a golf cart or other utility vehicle as necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age or older; 21 years of age or older preferred. High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year of previous customer service experience in a restaurant or bar.  Lead server or Front of House Management experience preferred.  Additional schooling or training in food service and preparation highly desirable.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid Colorado driver's license with a safe driving record.  City of Thornton Liquor Training must be obtained at the first available opportunity.  Serve Safe certification required as soon as possible.
