Job Summary

Acts as a WIC Competent Professional Authority (CPA), to provide WIC Program services to Rice County residents in accordance with all applicable federal and state rules and regulations. 

 

Examples of Duties

  • Serves as WIC CPA (Competent Professional Authority) and High-Risk CPA, providing WIC participant certifications and education during appointments while assessing health status of client.
  • Carries out all phases of the WIC certification process, including hematological screening, height and weight measurements, nutritional assessments and nutrition education.
  • Ensures that client eligibility is correctly determined and that program participants receive benefits equitably, according to Federal rules and regulations.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates individual nutrition care plans for clients and provides nutrition education in a professional, confidential manner.
  • Makes referrals to community resources as appropriate.
  • Maintains client charts and WIC program records, helps with clinic set-up and clean-up, and performs other work essential to providing WIC services
  • Provides health education and information to individuals or groups on health or nutrition related topics including breastfeeding.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietician, or Licensed Nutritionist; OR Bachelors or Master's Degree in Nutrition; OR Registered Nurse; OR Bachelors or Master's Degree in a Health or Home Economics field with applicable coursework in nutrition. Applicants must meet Minnesota WIC program requirements to work as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA).  One to two years nutrition/health education related experience. Valid driver's license.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Somali
 

Supplemental Information

UNION: GU Union – Grade 11
 
HOURS:  32 hours per week.  Typical work hours approximately 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., four days per week (Monday – Friday).
