Job Description

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
 
Performs difficult technical work in video production and operation of broadcast equipment throughout the City as the Broadcast Video Producer/Media Specialist.   Work is performed under regular supervision. Position reports to the Video Broadcast Manager.
 
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
 
  • Produces various video productions for the City including advertisement, promotion, training, safety, and public information projects; both for broadcast and social media platforms.Assist in live productions of City Council meetings, workshops, PNZs and other regular and special meetings;
  • Produces, directs, shoots, edits, sound designs, copies and distributes video files as needed for video productions and special projects;
  • Maintains video, sound, lighting and computer equipment for BocaTV channel 20, council chambers, 6500 Building studio and auditorium as well as editing equipment, field equipment, and playout sources;
  • Develops scripts and storyboards for City videos and projects to be produced by the City's video department;
  • Copies and edits video files for staff, press, public, and other governmental agencies;
  • Documents various city projects for departments such as city manager's, parks and recreation, development services, utility services, municipal services, police and fire rescue services;
  • Operates a variety of television broadcast equipment, field production and some experience with drones or UAV/UAS.
 
RELATED TASKS:
 
*Assists in broadcast tasks for connection to Comcast, U-verse, Hotwire, PBC Channel 20 and Granicus;
*Assist in producing videos or shows for all city departments as well as elected officials;
*Assigned duties to produce different types of content; including commercials, PSAs, information or promotional videos for BocaTV Channel 20 or any of the City's social media outlets.
*Performs related tasks as required.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 
Thorough knowledge of video production, digital still photography and drone technology; thorough knowledge of all facets of electronic communication and social media; thorough knowledge of video production; from script writing, storyboarding, lighting, shooting, sound recording, editing and distribution to archiving; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to lift and move articles and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; ability to organize and perform work independently; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, outside agencies, and the general public.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
 
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college or university with major course work in video production, multimedia, mass communications or related fields. Minimum of (3) years of experience in all aspects of video production and digital still photography.  Minimum of (3) years of experience with Mac and PC computers. Ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge of programs such as Apple Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Photoshop, Premeire and Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint and the Microsoft Office Suite. 
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Must possess a valid State of Florida Class "E" driver's license with no more than six (6) points in the past three (3) years. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and Holidays as required.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
 
Must be able to lift, carry and push articles weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including inclement weather.  Exposure to extreme temperatures, insects, heights, dust, and sand.

Part time employees that work more than 1040 hours in a fiscal year receive 12 hours of floating holiday time for the next fiscal year.
