Position Information

Under close supervision, performs the routine review of construction plans in conjunction with building permit applications for compliance with cross-connection control and backflow prevention requirements; assists in conducting field inspections and testing for proper installation of the backflow prevention devices; performs testing, inspection, maintenance, repairing and certification of backflow prevention devices; records, updates and maintains various data and information in manual and electronic files; and performs other related duties as required.

Position requires occasionally climbing vertical ladders up to 30 feet; life and carry 45 pounds of field equipment; lift up to 30 pounds for purposes of lifting and placing construction plans or other documents in a location for review. Ability to walk one mile per inspection.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of experience in reviewing and reading blueprints and/or construction plans.

Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of symbols and terminologies used in construction plans and building permits; basic principles of water hydraulics; and the ability to learn, understand, and interpret blueprints and construction specifications for cross-connection control and backflow prevention.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT
Possess a valid driver's license (Type 3).
