JOB SUMMARY

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION FOR THE SUMMER OF 2018
 
  • Responsible for routine clerical tasks for the Department of Infrastructure including, but not limited to, data entry, records research, and document archiving.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Responsible for signing for incoming mail packages and dispersing them to the appropriate recipients.
  • Responsible for answering department telephones and maintaining professional contact with walk-in constituents and vendors.
  • Frequent communications with various County personnel members including department heads and elected officials, external agencies and the general public
  • Understands and follows oral and written instructions.
  • Responsible for data entry and document archiving
  • Readily complies with departmental and county-wide policies and procedures
  • Performs related special projects as assigned
  • The physical demands and environmental factors listed below, as well as regular attendance, are also essential functions for this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Position involves sitting at a desk or other workstation, typing, filing, making copies, standing and communicating.
  • Works continually at a keyboard.
  • May be required to exert 10 to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • May have to walk or stand for periods of time.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
  • Works primarily in an air-conditioned, smoke-free office, but may be required to travel to other county facilities.
  • Williamson County has adopted a Tobacco-Free Workplace policy. This policy prohibits smoking or use of any tobacco product on Williamson County premises.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to type and enter data with sufficient speed and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills including, but not limited to, checking email and using word processing programs.
  • Able to see and hear.
  • Able to write and read to a size 10 font.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Must obtain a valid TX driver's license.
  • Able to interact with the general public, co-workers, supervisors, department heads, elected officials and others in a pleasant and professional manner.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
EMPLOYMENT TESTING:
  • Employment is contingent on passing post-offer, pre-employment, and periodic drug testing and criminal background investigations.
IRREGULAR HOURS:
  • Work outside of the normal office hours may be required to meet deadlines and accuracy requirements.
  • Essential Personnel for Emergency Situations; at the discretion of the Department Director.
