Job Responsibilities

The Department of Mental Health is a drug-free workplace.  All candidates will be required to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug test.

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Orangeburg Community Mental Health Center, 2319 St. Matthews Road NE, Orangeburg, SC 29118.

Under limited supervision provides medical and psychiatric evaluation to clients across the age span. Provides individualized goal directed interventions that are safe and effective to clients of all ages (as credentialed) and clinical presentations utilizing nursing practice standards and in collaboration with members of the health care team to achieve identified outcomes.

Provides comprehensive psychiatric, psychopharmacological and risk assessment/management for clients of all ages (in accordance to educational credentials) and all clinical presentations across the continuum. Collaborates with physician supervisor to establish protocols. Supervise practices pertinent to psychiatric diagnosis, pharmacological management and any other treatment. 

Meets productivity requirements as outlined by Center Administration. Consistently adheres to compliance policies and Code of Conduct of the organization. Demonstrates compliance with relevant safety accreditation, and regulatory requirements. Nurse Practitioner must demonstrate compliance with all applicable hospital policies. 

Maintain current up to date knowledge and skills related to client treatment. Orders lab work and screens incoming lab work protocol.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirements: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with clinical experience.

Agency Requirements: Master's degree in nursing. Licensure as a registered nurse with official recognition as a Nurse Practitioner by the S.C. Board of Nursing for SC Certified by a nationally extended role with prescriptive authority in the state of South Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications

Must be licensed as a registered nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina. Recognized as a Nurse Practitioner by the State Board of Nursing for SC, certified by a nationally recognized nursing organization which certifies nurses practicing in the extended role.
