Job Description

This position reports to the Information Technology Specialist. This position will provide computer and network systems support for the City of Clovis. The position will involve monitoring and maintaining all technology-related hardware and software. This is a highly professional technology position. Responsibilities include providing hardware support and training as well as planning and implementing technology standards and procedures for all departments within the City of Clovis. The City of Clovis working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however this position will require work in the evenings, nights and weekends.

Public Job Description

• Provide technical assistance to the City of Clovis in matters relating to the Application of technology.

• Provide technical expertise in the evaluation and acquisition of technology.

• Conduct technology related needs assessment and evaluate opportunities for using technology.

• Assists with the installation and relocation of hardware and software for workstations and workstation users in accordance with established procedures and instructions;

• Assists in performing periodic preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and departmental policies;

• Assists with the modification, update or replacement of internal equipment parts as required;

• Receive user calls regarding computer system related problems and provides advice on the appropriate action to be taken to resolve the problem;

• Maintain support documentation including problem logs, troubleshooting quick references, installation procedures, etc.

• Works with contract and vendor supplied personnel engaged in the installation, maintenance and repair of workstation equipment;

• Informs supervisor on the status of all operating problems;

• Assists in managing inventory of workstation and associated equipment.

• Train personnel on the usage of computer software and hardware.

• Evaluate, test, and implement computer hardware and software solutions.

• Keep current on advances in technology and usage's of technology by municipalities.

• Work cooperatively with colleagues, co-workers, supervisors and administrators.

• Abide by City of Clovis policies and administrative rules and regulations as they pertain to this position.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field or vendor certification in PC Repair or Networking. Two years of experience in PC or Network Systems support. Two years experience in supporting complex computer applications is preferred. Proficient knowledge and experience installing, administering, problem solving, troubleshooting, and maintaining Windows 2000/XP operating systems and applications.



Ability to facilitate and coordinate effective working relationships with all employees of the City of Clovis Ability to work independently and to clearly articulate ideas both verbally and in writing. Training and teaching skills a must. Ability to develop and maintain web sites.
