The Financial Support Specialist I performs highly responsible administrative and technical duties to support the activities of the department.

Examples of Duties

Answers telephone and greet visitors; provides information or refers inquiries to appropriate personnel; routes incoming calls and records messages; responds to emails and faxes as necessary.

Utilizes computerized data entry equipment and various word processing and file maintenance programs to enter, store, and/or retrieve information; maintains pertinent files and records; scans and copies documents as necessary; ensures files are complete and accurate.

Processes ingoing and outgoing mail, including preparing photocopies and collating materials; distributes mail to appropriate department or employee.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.

 

Maintains department accounts; prepares financial monthly reports for Medicaid billing and payments via computer-driven data entry; issues checks, including posting to ledger; assists in year-end audits of office accounts, retrieving files and records requested.

Prepares daily deposits, handling large sums of money; balances cash registers and prepares bank deposits as necessary; assists with monthly bank reconciliations.

Prepares primary care charts; checks eligibility with SDI services and Medicaid; utilizes computerized data entry for eligibility screening of clients and pharmaceutical enrollment assistance when needed.

Maintains routine accounting records; receives, organizes, and reviews a variety of documents pertaining to purchasing to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Codes invoices; enters invoice data into computer for check preparation; records money received for full or partial payment.

Performs other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and minimum one year of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.

Family Medical Leave: Denton County employees who have been employed for one year and who have worked 1250 hours in the preceding year may be eligible for up to twelve weeks of FMLA leave.
