Job Description

Purpose of Position:
Why does the job exist?
This position processes the monthly Land Grant Permanent Fund and Severance Tax Permanent Fund distributions to beneficiaries; reconciles valuations for over 220 alternative investments (Real Estate, Real Assets, Private Equity) to the State Investment Council's custody bank and consultants on a monthly basis; reconciles daily alternative investment transactions to our custody bank and consultants, and ensures that transactions are properly accounted for.
 
How does it get done?
The key responsibilities are to ensure that the Land Grant Permanent Fund and Severance Tax Permanent Fund beneficiary transfers are accurate and processed timely. Additionally, this position is responsible with ensuring that valuations and transactions for alternative investments are accurately reported by our custody bank, consultants and posted in our internal system.
 
Who are the customers?
The job is performed for the beneficiaries of the Land Grant Permanent Fund and the Severance Tax Permanent Fund. The accurate reporting of valuations impacts all the owners of the investment pools, including the Land Grant Permanent Fund, Severance Tax Permanent Fund, Water Trust Fund, Tobacco Settlement Permanent Fund and our third party clients.
 
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate would have a degree in Accounting and SHARE experience
for processing the beneficiary transfers. Experience in accounting for investments, specifically alternative investments, experience in Microsoft Excel and performing cash and valuation reconciliations would also be ideal for this position.  
 
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
 
This position is a Pay Band 75.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration and five (5) years of directly related experience in State government budgeting, accounting and/or auditing. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience. For use at the State Investment Council only: any budgeting, accounting and/or auditing experience is acceptable.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, walking, bending and reaching may be required.
