Essential Functions

Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment and supplies that is necessary to perform essential functions; fills 24 hour medicine cart for review by Pharmacist; maintains and operates pharmacy equipment; reports broken or malfunctioning equipment; maintains current and adequate medications and supplies; utilizes a personal computer or terminal to access the hospital information system or the pharmacy purchasing system; performs all tasks necessary to prepare and deliver medications using a variety of transport mechanisms; restocks all work areas by transfer of stock or filling of appropriate carts and drawers, including emergency stock; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; maintains accurate and complete records by utilizing the correct tools and procedures for all pharmacy functions; maintains proper records for all medications and controlled substance dispensed or received; completes all mandatory departmental, educational and hospital requirements; utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; reorders stock supplies; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and registry with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.

Working Days and Hours

Monday - Friday with rotating weekends  
Primarily evenings, possible days
