The Real Estate Services Department - Project Management Division, is recruiting for Capital Improvement Project Managers III, who oversee capital and maintenance improvement projects; coordinate major renovation and replacement of present facilities; coordinate site selection, development, space needs studies, design criteria, architectural services, and construction management of County owned buildings, parks, airports, utility infrastructure, and a variety of other capital projects.  Capital Improvement Project Managers III have responsibility for large and more complex capital improvement projects and may also provide training and act as a lead on smaller teams.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

1) Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available. 2) Applicants must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Business Management, Inspection Technology, or a closely related field.

--AND--

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of project management experience over multiple capital improvement and building projects for a public agency, with responsibility from conception to completion. Responsibilities should include developing and updating project schedules, tracking project budgets, managing Requests for Information, and coordination of design and construction submittals. Typical experience includes medium to large projects for local, state and federal government business sites.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
Two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may substitute for the Bachelor's degree requirement, with possession of an Associate's Degree as noted above or 30 semester (45 quarter) units of coursework as noted above.

Four (4) additional years of qualifying experience may substitute for the educational requirements. 

An equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have strong construction project management experience.
