Purpose of the Position

This position will be posted until filled.

The purpose of this position is to assist with the operation of the wastewater plant and sewer collection system.

This is a seasonal position during the time period of approximately May through August (based on candidate's summer break from school), Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. 
The starting hourly rate is $13.27; 2nd year returning hourly rate is $14.60; 3rd year returning hourly rate is $15.92; 4th year returning hourly rate is $17.25.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Collect samples of wastewater, sludge, and biosolids.
  2. Perform lab tests including BOD, TSS, and TS.
  3. Assist with maintenance of plant and facilities.
  4. Monitor the performance and status of machinery, equipment, supplies, and materials.
  5. Maintain neat and accurate records.
  6. Perform related work as required and assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements
Engineering, Environmental, or Waste Resources student, or recent graduate, and approved through an internship program.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Possession of a Driver's License valid in the State of Wisconsin.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic wastewater sampling and testing methods and requirements
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and enter data into computer.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare reports and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to communicate with others, follow directions, and complete work assignments.
  • Ability to work in a professional manner with co-workers, customers, and the public at large.

Physical and Working Environment
Physical effort required in walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing while performing shop and field maintenance work. 
Must be physically able to perform manual work under all weather conditions.
