Job Responsibilities

 
  • Plans, coordinates and directs medical treatment and care services for assigned institutions.
  • Provides medical consultation for the  long-range planning of additional health facilities and programs.
  • Supervises the professional medical activities of assigned institutions, assuring adherence to policies pertaining to the  delivery of medical services.
  • Supervises preparation of progress  notes, summaries and general evaluations of patient medical records establishes treatment procedures and guidelines for medical care services at assigned institutions.
  • Performs professional medical  duties requiring the coordination of departmental health resources with those available in the community.
  • Provides medical treatment services for inmate patients.
  • Determines and prescribes medication develops and implements programs as needed to ensure SCDC medical  services are in-compliance with all required health care laws.
  • Consults with other physicians.
  • Must participate in meetings.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of internship or One (1) year of residency training.Licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina
