About us
Here at the Department of Retirement Systems, we are responsible for providing the information, tools, expertise and services that ensure our members receive the retirement benefits they earn while in public service.

As the administrator of eight public retirement systems, 15 retirement plans and the Deferred Compensation Program, we serve a vast and diverse population. Responsibilities

We are looking for a skilled senior-level Management Analyst 4 to provide management support in the form of research, analysis, and project management activities within our Information Services Division.

Working in a professional team environment, you will coordinate and oversee the completion of performance management activities for the division.  You will coordinate across divisions to research and gather performance-related data and conduct in-depth analysis and evaluation of the data and its impact on established goals and objective.

You will lead assigned projects that have divisional, agency, and inter-agency impact.  You will plan, develop, coordinate and implement project plans and timetables, and identify internal business units and key stakeholders, and facilitate their participation and input into plan development.  You will also ensure deliverables meet project requirements and are delivered on-time.

You will work with outside organizations to identify and resolve complex, unprecedented issues. You will also serve as a consultant for team members, leaders, customers and external organizations to identify and resolve complex customer service challenges and identify opportunities for process improvements.

Qualifications

The desired candidate will possess:

  • Associate Degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, information technology, or other closely allied field;
  • A minimum of three years full-time experience conducting research and analysis of statistical data and trends;
  • Experience planning and leading projects, preferably IT projects;
  • Experience with process improvement principles and methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma);
  • Experience with Washington state government;
  • Experience managing change, facilitating collaboration and leading teams;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making and consultative skills;
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to articulate complex information in easily understandable terms and make presentations to senior leadership and external parties;
  • Strong commitment to customer service;
  • Demonstrated advanced-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and SharePoint version 2013 or later.

Effectively organizes work and coordinates activities, services, and schedules to ensure smooth and efficient operation of work.  Is an effective communications link and reliable source of information for others. Keeps interested parties informed of the status of events.

Problem Solving
Analyzes problem to identify the root cause(s).  Evaluates possible courses of action; uses reason, logic, and creativity to reach conclusions.  Develops timely, effective solutions that take into consideration alternatives, risks, and consequences in relation to organizational goals, resources, and constraints.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
 
State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).  New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs.  For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.
 
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).  This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
 
Vacation (Annual Leave)
 
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.
