Purpose of Position:
This position will provide behavioral health clinical consultation, review, and referral for Children, Youth & Families Department (CYFD) involved children and youth on an as needed basis; and direct services of biopsychosocial and mental status assessments, mediation, crisis intervention, and time-limited counseling for children and their families upon receipt of an appropriate referral. Referrals for services may include CYFD involved clients diagnosed as severely emotionally disturbed or for whom other mental health issues are known or suspected; those being considered for intensive, specialized, and/or out of home placement for services; and those in need of crisis intervention. In addition, this position will assist CYFD staff in the development of behavioral health aspects of plans of care. They will also function as part of the CYFD team providing CYFD staff with clinical direction and clinical recommendations for all intensive, specialized, or out of home placement behavioral health services.

This position is a Pay Band 70.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work or Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and New Mexico Licensure as LBSW, LMSW, LISW, LPCC, LMHC, LMFT or LPAT. A Provisional LBSW, Provisional LMSW, Provisional LISW, Temporary LPCC, Temporary LMHC, Temporary LMFT or Temporary LPAT will also meet minimum qualifications. Failure to obtain full licensure or loss of licensure will disqualify the person from meeting the minimum requirements. For positions providing clinical supervision, a Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work, two (2) years of experience and full licensure as an LISW, LPCC,or LMFT is required.

Employment Requirements:
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

All applicants for this position must be licensed in accordance with the Professional Psychologist Act, Sections 61-9-1 through 61-9-19 NMSA 1978, and 16.22.1 through 16.22.29 NMAC OR the Social Work Practice Act, Sections 61-31-1 through 61-31-25 NMSA 1978, and 16.63.1 through 16.63.20 NMAC OR Counseling and Therapy Practice Act, Sections 61-9A-1 through 61-9A-30 NMSA 1978.

Working Conditions:
Walking, sitting, extensive use of computers, standing and reaching. Office and correctional facility setting. Potential risk from juvenile actions. Extensive statewide travel may be required.
