Position Information

Supervises a crew engaged in the repair, maintenance and minor construction of roads and appurtenances requiring the use of various motorized construction equipment; and performs other related duties as required.

Current vacancy:  Supervises and participates in the management, control and enforcement of the City's Stored Property (SPO) and Sidewalk Nuisance (SNO) ordinances and to provide communities with unobstructed and safe access to public sidewalks and other public property under the City's jurisdiction.

There is one vacancy with the Department of Facility Maintenance, Road Maintenance Division, Stored Property Branch.  Work schedule is 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Thursday to Monday, but you may be subject to variable start/end times depending on required activities.  Must be able to work different terrains.  Subject to foul odors and unsanitary conditions.  This list may be used to fill future vacancies in this department.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in road construction and maintenance work involving the use of heavy construction equipment.

Such experience must have demonstrated the knowledge of principles and practices of supervision; and the practices, methods, tools, equipment  and materials used in general construction work; and the ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the work of subordinates; read, interpret and apply engineering plans, designs and specifications; determine time, labor, material and equipment requirements; and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other government agencies and the general public.

License and Certificate Requirements:
Valid Hawaii driver's license (Type 3) prior to appointment.
