THIS POSITION WILL ACT AS THE ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR OF THE HOME.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree in hospital, public health, or health services administration; or in a health service field such as psychology, social work, or nursing; or in business, public, or personnel administration; plus five years of professional experience in administrative services, hospital administration, or health services administration. Three years of this experience must have been in the direction of a health service or support program in a hospital or health care setting, or in directing a statewide health service or support program at the state office level with jurisdiction over the development and implementation of that program.
 
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.

Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:

A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.

30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience tosubstitute for the baccalaureate degree.
 
A master's degree in hospital, public health, or health services administration will substitute for one year of the required general experience.
 
A master's degree in a health service field such as psychology, social work, nursing, or in business, public, or personnel administration will substitute for one year of the required general experience.
 
Advanced degrees with less than a Ph.D. or M.D. will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required general experience.
 
A Ph.D. in hospital, public health, or health services administration will substitute for two years of the required general experience.
 
A Ph.D. in a health service field such as psychology, social work, nursing, or in business, public, or personnel administration will substitute for two years of the required general experience.
 
A medical degree will substitute for two years of the required general experience.
 
All advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required general experience.
 
NOTE:
Health service programs are defined as nursing service, ancillary services (radiology, medical laboratory, pharmacy, etc.) and medical services.
 
NOTE:
Support programs are defined as staff development, human resources, patient admissions, accounting, budget, policy planning, program evaluation, purchasing, warehousing, social services, volunteer organized program experience, maintenance, food service, environmental management systems, security, housekeeping, and data management.
 
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
 
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
A nursing home administrator license may be required.

To serve as principal assistant to a Long Term Care Hospital Administrator. Assumes full responsibility for all activities of the hospital in his or her absence.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Long Term Care Hospital Administrator by the absence of responsibility for directing and administering all aspects and activities of a skilled nursing facility or hospital.

Examples of Work

Serves as the principal assistant to the Long Term Care Hospital Administrator; assumes full responsibility for all activities of the hospital during his or her absence.

Plans, organizes, directs, and controls all activities of assigned divisions such as ancillary, fiscal, human resources management, management operations, material and plant management, nursing, and medical.

Reviews and evaluates divisional operations and recommends appropriate action to the hospital administrator.

Interprets for application all pertinent regulations and policies.

Directs the preparation and review of reports pertaining to division operations.

Conducts a variety of complex studies and submits recommendations to the hospital administrator.

Coordinates the implementation of new programs and procedures.

Assists the hospital administrator with development of budget recommendations.

Participates in coordinating programs and services of the hospital with other local and state agencies and programs.

Meets with officials of federal, state and local agencies; professional organizations; patients; and interested groups on matters relating to the hospital.
