About our Team: Our Real Estate Procurement Team services all operating divisions: Metro Transit, Metropolitan Council Environmental Services, Community Development, Metro HRA, Metropolitan Transportation Services, and Metropolitan Planning organization; with the Environmental Services and Metro Transit among the largest divisions we service.

 The Real Estate Associate will assist in the coordination of negotiations for the acquisition and disposition of real property, real property closings, and document preparations. She or he will also assist as needed for consultant contract administration, general Real Estate Portfolio and other real estate activities. The successful candidate will be given uncomplicated acquisitions to complete.

What you would do in this job:

  • Assist in acquisition, disposition, and condemnation for real property rights
  • Assist in real property closings: assemble offer packages, coordinate with closing company, and recording documents
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up to date records and database entries during the acquisition process
  • Research at County courthouse, county website or other resources to obtain ownership information 
  • Compile and organize ownership and property information 
  • Other duties as assigned and related to the position

What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications):

Associate's Degree in real estate or related field AND four (4) years of experience in sale, purchase and development of real property 
OR
Two (2) year technical school certification AND four (4) years of experience in sale, purchase and development of real property
OR
Bachelor's Degree in a related field AND two (2) years of experience in sale, purchase and development of real property 
OR
HS Diploma or equivalent AND six (6) years of experience in sale, purchase and development of real property.

What additional skills and experience would be helpful in this job (desired qualifications):
  • Knowledge of public government requirements in real estate acquisition and disposition
  • Experience completing land transactions
What knowledge, skills and abilities you should have within the first six months on the job:
  • Knowledge of appraisal and real estate market
  • Knowledge of Minnesota real property transaction requirements and laws including eminent domain
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and Database software
  • Proficient in mathematics
  • Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with Divisions and others
  • Ability to work independently with confidential information
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, demands and timelines
  • Ability to make independent judgment, initiate, and organize solutions to a variety of problems

Starting Salary Range:     $60,174 - $63,294
Full Salary Range:            $60,174- - $85,342
