Description of Job

We are seeking exceptional and caring health care workers to provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff. This position will provide basic nursing care to residents of varying mental, physical and health conditions; assists in meeting the activities of daily living, ambulation, range of motion, vital sign assessments, etc.  As an employee, you will experience an atmosphere of "culture change" as we operate on a simple principle, "What's in the best interest of the resident?"  Dream for and achieve a higher standard of care for our residents by joining our team! 

Duties required may include, but not limited to: 

  • Performing basic nursing care, which includes, bathing, feeding, dressing, transferring, ambulating, positioning, lifting, assisting with range of motion, assisting with toileting, and providing skin care, etc.
  • Providing for the safety of residents and others by using correct lifting techniques, monitoring the environment, monitoring the resident's whereabouts and activities, and using safety devices such as lifts and side rails, etc.
  • Performing basic resident assessments and recording information in the areas of weights, bowel and bladder incontinence, intake and outputs, and vital signs.
  • Recording hall sheet data for each shift.
  • Implementing proper infection control practices via the use of standard precautions.
  • Communicating with others to ensure proper resident care and work completion.
  • Keeping RN's and LPN's informed of findings and changes in resident's condition.
  • Maintaining therapeutic milieu through appropriate interpersonal skill use.
  • Monitoring environments and assisting residents to maintain rooms and possessions.
  • Maintaining resident's care and equipment, such as, cleaning oxygen concentrators, filling portable oxygen tank, maintaining/disinfecting tubs and showers, and changing lift batteries, etc.
  • Transporting residents to medical appointments when the need arises.
  • Attending educational training and staff meetings to maintain current techniques, policies, and inter-shift communication.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED and Possess of or ability to obtain a CNA license.  
  • Must have completed and passed a Certified Nurse Assistant course and obtain license within 4 months of hire. 
  • Must possess and maintain a current and valid Colorado CNA license obtained from the Colorado Department of Regulator Agencies
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Substitution:
  • A valid Certified Nurse Aide license (CNA) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies will substitute for high school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience assisting residents with their Assisted Daily Living (ADL) care in a long-term care setting
  • Experience in resident transfers
  • Experience in resident ambulation
  • Experience recording intake and output measurements
  • Experience in assisting residents during meals

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, day and evening shifts, night shifts,  weekends, and holidays and back-to-back shift and double shifts as needed.
  • Must be able to follow prescribed policies and procedures even if they may conflict with my "personal" preferences.
  • Ability to work with staff and patients of diversity to include social, economic, ethnic, and religious backgrounds in a long term setting
  • A Tuberculosis Test (TB) will be required upon hire.
  • A pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process as this position is deemed to have direct contact with vulnerable persons. Felony convictions, conviction of crimes of moral turpitude, or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from being considered for this position. Additionally, you will be required take and pass a drug screen.
