SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Reports to the Director of the EOF, follows policies, procedures and guidelines to perform required functions and coordinate holistic services to assist in the achievement of EOF program, departmental, and college-wide IEP goals and objectives.
 
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY
The most important overall responsibility of all RCBC employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, other members of the college and the public.
 
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS
Accepts responsibility for the timely preparation of student outcomes assessment efforts of the faculty in planning, collecting data, and reporting dates as they relate to course outcomes, program outcomes, general education outcomes, and developmental program outcomes. Actively participates in setting annual division goals and objectives, completing OIR reporting forms, collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing a report using guidelines established by OIR.
 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide structured, college-wide, academic, career, transfer, financial, and personal counseling for EOF student cohort.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to align the EOF mission and purpose with the recruitment, admissions, and financial aid process to advocate for inclusion of targeted, underrepresented students.
  • Access and use college data management systems to maintain student information, advisement contacts, referrals, and program data, as well as assist in preparation of an end of term report and a variety of other reports as needed.
  • Work closely with the Director to develop and implement effective strategies and innovative programs to assist with EOF student persistence and retention efforts.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled intrusive counseling sessions with assigned students, and refer students to appropriate resources both on and off campus.
  • Work closely with the Director to support implementation of cross-functional alliances and community partnerships required to advance the interests of the EOF students.
  • Provide leadership to and coordination of the EOF Clubs and EOF student enrichment activities, community service, service learning projects, and/or retreats to engage and empower students to achieve their leadership, educational and personal goals at BCC.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the EOF freshman seminar, EOF summer pre-college program, EOF structured study, tutoring, mentoring, and other supplemental instruction initiatives designed to promote student engagement and success.
  • Research and stay abreast of best practices, student-centered trends, and policy initiatives related to EOF and/or underrepresented student populations.
  • Work closely with the Director to complete and submit reports on student counseling, referrals, program accomplishments, budget management, areas of improvement and annual action plans.
  • As assigned by the Director, assist at Student Services front counter to answer telephones and provide supporting program or college information to students, including advisement.
  • Maintain a workable knowledge of all type of financial aid available to students, and the rules and regulations governing them.
  • Attend meetings, training programs and serve on campus-wide committees as assigned by Director.
  • Some travel, evening and weekend work is required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED
Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Student Personnel Services or related field required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A minimum of two years full time professional experience working in a college setting or with educationally under-prepared, economically disadvantaged, and/or first generation students is required.  Experience in Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, Counseling/Advising, Career Counseling, and other Student Academic Services is preferred
