Saint Paul College seeks energetic and dedicated individuals to apply for one unlimited, full-time (1.0) Surgical Technology Instructor position. This position requires an individual that is a Certified Surgical Technologist and can provide current certification number from The Association of Surgical Technologists.

Instructor is responsible for:

  • Provide classroom instruction, evaluate and advise students;
  • Develop and/or revise curriculum;
  • Participate in department meetings, program advisory committee meetings, and college-wide events;
  • Maintain technical knowledge in the field through active participation in professional development organizations and events;
  • Promote diversity and cultural competency;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean or Vice President of Academic Affairs.
 
Position Begin Date:  August 20, 2018.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education Requirement - Associate's degree in any discipline/field and a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program in surgical technology or Associate's degree in nursing.
  • Occupational Experience Requirement - Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified operating room experience as a practicing surgical technologist (scrub role) or an operating room nurse including scrub experience.
  • Recency Requirement - One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Professional Requirment - Certified Surgical Technician by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA formerly LCC-ST).
  
Preferred Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in allied healthcare

Salary and benefits will be based on the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) and the State of Minnesota.  Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.  Salary range $35,984-$79,218.  Salary and benefits will be provided according to the negotiated labor agreement.  Applicants selected for interview will be requested to provide a statement of their philosophy of equity and inclusion.

Instructors work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance (100% employer paid single premium or 85% employer paid family premium); life insurance; optional dental, and short- and long-term disability; paid personal and sick leave; a choice between a defined benefits and defined contribution (401(a) retirement plans); tuition waiver for employees and dependents; and optional 457 and 403(b) retirement savings plans.

Under the collective bargaining agreement with the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF), new instructors to MSCF receive a salary placement based on education and related experience after a job offer is accepted.  The maximum salary at hire is $57,819 per academic year, depending on education and experience.
