Job Responsibilities

This position is located within the South Carolina Enterprise Information System (SCEIS) division of the Department of Administration. The incumbent will be under limited supervision and will assist in the testing and documentation of SAP software configuration and interfaces required to support the state's financial business process. The incumbent will also participate in various workshops, presentations and conduct training to educate end users and to promote the SCEIS project. Furthermore, the incumbent will assist in the development of appropriate specifications for financial reports, forms, interface and conversion routines in collaboration with the financial and technical team members. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field and professional experience directly related, such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending.
Agency minimum requirements: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, procurement or related field and at least three (3) years of experience in related public sector/governmental agency; or an associate degree in accounting, finance, procurement or related field and five (5) years of experience in related public sector/governmental agency. A high school diploma and seven (7) years experience in related public sector/governmental agency.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Broad knowledge of public sector accounting, treasury, budgeting, and other business functions as related to accounting objectives. Position may require overnight travel, working evenings and/or weekends and frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview.  A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application, if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant.  Please note that some areas  of the Department may require an official, certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area, after hiring.  Failure to produce an official, certified transcript may result in not being hired or termination. 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in implementing large automated financial systems and in the planning, configuration and implementation of an integrated system is desired. Prefer experience using SAP ERP based system. A proven working knowledge and/or certifications of public sector accounting, treasury, budgeting, and other business functions as related to accounting objectives is preferred. Certification as a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) is preferred.
