Job Description

Responsible for the inspection and operation of light equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential Functions

  • Operates light to medium-sized motorized equipment such as dump truck, bobcat, backhoe, mowing tractors, front-end loader in the performance of construction, maintenance and repair  the storm water drainage systems.
  • Performs manual and semi-skilled tasks incidental to equipment operation such as locating and repairing water or sewer lines, laying new water or sewer lines, repairing and replacing storm sewers, reconstructing earthen channels, maintaining concrete lined channels, and mowing of earthen channels.
  • Inspects and checks equipment before and after use.   Reports problems to supervisor; performs minor equipment maintenance activities
  • Operates heavy equipment as needed
Additional Duties:
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Take Street and Drainage on Call periodically

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of experience in equipment operations (i.e., backhoe, dump truck, bobcat, etc.)
OR
  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

  • Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance

Conditions of Employment

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Class "A" CDL within 90 days of employment
  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security verification number
  • Must pass a physical examination
  • Must be able to work on-call shifts and overtime as needed including nights and weekends.
Preferences:
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Preference will be given to applicants who possess a current, valid Class "A" CDL
