Description/Duties & Responsibilities

Under supervision of the Recreation and Community Services Supervisor, Coordinator, and Program Specialist, this position will work directly with the registration staff at the Canyon Country Community Center. This position will work up to 20 hours per week and must have the ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Organize, plan, and work directly with the Recreation Supervisor, Recreation Coordinator or

Program Specialist.

• Mange/facilitate special events and birthday parties.

• Perform a wide variety of registration duties.

• Lead children, parents, participants and staff in a variety of activities.

• Plan and prepare materials, activities, and agenda for birthday parties and special events.

• Research new and creative ideas for birthday parties/special events.

• Monitor paperwork.

• Assist in creating/updating flyers.

• Set-up and clean-up facility.

• Ensure cleanliness and safety of facility.

• Open and close facility.

• Report incidents and accidents.

• Attend meetings and training sessions.

• Order supplies and materials.

• Supervise staff.

• Work with staff to effectively provide quality recreation and community services events programs.

• Provide a high level of customer service to participants, and the community.

• Other duties as directed by Recreation Community Services Coordinator, Program Specialist and Recreation Leader III.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Handling TAP bus passes.

• Maintain facility equipment.

• Manage and coordinate weekly/monthly facility set-up.

• Other activities as directed by Recreation Community Services Coordinator, Program Specialist and Recreation Leader III.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

• Two years experience in Recreation and Community Services area

• Completion of college courses is highly desirable

• Supervisory experience a plus

• Possession of, or ability to obtain within one month of hire, the following American Red Cross certifications: CPR/AED/First Aid

Knowledge and Abilities

Certificates and Licenses: Possession of, or ability to obtain with 1 month of hire, Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid.

Language Ability: Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and positively, both orally and in writing.

Professional Skills: Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks in an effective and timely manner, for self and others; creative problem solver, quick learner, and team player.

Physical Ability: Ability to work flexible hours, including nights; Ability to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and equipment, is required occasionally.

Part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) workers are at-will. Generally PTS employees are limited to no more than 1,000 hours.

In addition, PTS employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program. This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment.
