Essential Functions

Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; utilizes a PC to access the Hospital Information System and the Pharmacy Purchasing System; performs all tasks necessary to prepare and deliver medications using a variety of transport mechanisms under the direction of a pharmacist; restocks work areas by transferring stock and/or filling appropriate cars and drawers including emergency stock; reorders medications and supplies as required; assists in training and orientation of Pharmacy Technician I's; utilizes aseptic technique to compound small and large volume IV's and calculates and measures accurate doses; assists in performance pharmaceutical care activities; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare team in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; maintains accurate and complete records; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; participates in Performance Improvement activities through quality measurement and ICARE participation; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, one year of Pharmacy Technician or directly related experience, and registry with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.  Hospital experience and national certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is preferred.  College coursework is preferred.

Monday - Friday
1:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
