Job Responsibilities

The Regional Career Specialist (RCS) serves as liaison between SC Department of Education, Office of Career and Technology Education (CATE), and the region's school districts to ensure coordination, accountability, and delivery of career guidance and work-based learning initiatives as outlined in Perkins IV and EEDA legislation; supports "learning to work" state standards of South Carolina Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program Model to enhance delivery of career development core curriculum standards; coordinates and presents professional development workshops in CATE and career guidance for educators, guidance personnel, students, and parents; coordinates Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) course for educators; assists schools in promoting the goals of quality career development of students in K-12; supports students in the exploration of career clusters by providing work-site field studies and business/industry connections that support the 16 national cluster of studies; utilizes career assessments, exploration tools, and printed resources; provides opportunities for student competitions; and ensures compliance with CATE in relation to accountability measures and continuous monitoring of goals and outcomes.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Bachelor's Degree. Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in marketing, social media, and use of technology tools.
