I.              ELIGIBILITY:

In addition to the minimum eligibility set forth in APPENDIX A of the Program Guide, candidates seeking to be considered for an Internship in Human Resources must meet or comply with the following requirements:
 
1.    Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate school program with major course work in Engineering or Planning.
2.    Have obtained and maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA.
3.    Have the ability to work a minimum of 12 hours per week not to exceed a maximum of 25 hours per week. Hours are flexible and will be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
5.    Previous work experience preferred. 
 
II.            QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Knowledge of general planning and transportation principles, practices, methods, and equipment related to professional planning or engineering; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City officials, public officials and representatives, employees and the general public; ability to use various equipment related to engineering; ability to communicate technical ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to prepare technical reports.

III.           PROGRAM TERM:

IV.          GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
 
Performs responsible and supportive work in transportation planning activities and development review. Performs planning and administrative tasks and related work as assigned within the Traffic/Special Projects Division of the Municipal Services Department.   All work is performed under the immediate supervision of the City Traffic Engineer.
 
V.           TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
 
Assists with plan review in the land development process;
Participates in transportation planning process;
Assists with data entry and computer modeling;
Assists with ensuring compliance with policies and procedures;
Assists with maintaining and organizing files of traffic and parking studies;
Operates standard office machines.
 
VI.          RELATED TASKS:
 
Drafts correspondence including staff comments and other materials;
Coordinates with other government agencies and consultants;
Performs research and reports on various transportation and planning issues;
Performs technical and field studies including data collection as directed;
Performs related tasks as required.
 
I.              EXPECTATIONS:

Candidates selected for an Internship will be expected to comply with all City and Department rules and regulations.  In addition, candidates will be expected to:
1.    Wear appropriate attire during working hours, in accordance with the City of Boca Raton's policy.
2.    Conduct themselves in a professional manner.
3.    Maintain the confidentiality of any information obtained through the Internship Program.
4.    Record their time daily by clocking in and out each day and manage schedule with assigned Division Internship Coordinator.
5.    Ensure that all required documentation required by the college or university is supplied to the Department Internship Coordinator and completed prior to required deadlines, if applicable.
 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid State of Florida Class "E" driver's license with no more than six (6) points in a three (3) year period.
