Description

  • Hennepin County Public Health and Clinical Services is seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist to work at the Mental Health Center (MHC). The Senior Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist will be primarily responsible for administering psychological evaluations to children, adolescents, and adults referred by child protection, court, developmental disabilities services, and community and internal referrals.  

The MHC delivers psychiatric and other outpatient mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults.

Psychologist, Senior Clinical: $73,349.12 - $116,351.04 Annually
Psychologist, Clinical: $68,043.04 - $88,944.96 Annually

The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments (including presenting problems, psychosocial history, and psychiatric diagnoses) to assess a client's mental health functioning, to develop treatment recommendations, and develop treatment goals and plans.
  • Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests, and write comprehensive reports of personality, intelligence, and other test results.
  • Provide mental health therapy (e.g. individual, group, and/or family therapy) to children, adolescents, families, adults, and/or the elderly.
  • Record patient progress notes and attendance.
  • Write comprehensive psychological reports of clients' diagnosis and treatment recommendations, based on records, interviews, behavioral observations, and psychological test results.
  • Provide consultation on diagnosis, treatment, and other psychological issues to mental health professionals, government agencies, community organization, and/or schools.
  • Supervise and train entry-level clinical psychologists, graduate students, and/or physicians.
  • Review and sign off on diagnostic evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes compiled by non-licensed psychologists and graduate students.
  • Participate in research projects and/or write research grants.
  • Assist in maintaining standards for clinic accreditation by health management organizations, internship program accreditation by the American Psychological Association, and state licensure.
  • Complete necessary documentation to bill health management organizations and other payers for client services.
  • Provide court testimony pertaining to psychological assessments of clients.
Best Qualified Candidates will have:
  • For hire as a Clinical Psychologist:
    • Master's degree or higher in psychology and an approved clinical internship in the area of specialization.
    • Certification as a Psychological Practitioner or be eligible to be certified as a Licensed Psychologist (LP) in the state of Minnesota within 18 months of employment.
  • For hire as a Senior Clinical Psychologist:
    • A doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-accredited program with appropriate clinical training and one or more years of post-doctoral experience as a clinical psychologist in a medical or mental health setting.
    • Current certification as a Licensed Psychologist (LP) in the state of Minnesota or eligibility to become licensed.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Principles and procedures of clinical psychology, personality development, psychological diagnosis, psychopathology, psychotherapy, and psychological testing.
    • Community services available to assist mental health clients.
  • Ability to:
    • Apply psychological knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral disorders, emotional problems, co-occurring disorders, and mental illness.
    • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
    • Direct the work of others.
  • Current certification as a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Minnesota or licensed in another state as a Clinical Psychologist with eligibility to be licensed in Minnesota.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and computer software.
