Description

The Office of the Capitol Commission is seeking a highly motivated architect with extensive historic preservation/restoration project experience. Our preservation team provides architectural services including Creative Design, ADA/Code Compliance, Restorations, Renovations, Historic Preservation, Building Assessments, Master Planning, Interior Design, Space Planning, Project Management and Construction Administration. 

Hours: 8-5, Monday - Friday. 

Job location is 1445 K Street, Nebraska State Capitol, Downtown. 

Examples of Work

• Attend meetings, coordinate with agency contacts, contractors, construction project managers, structural, electrical, mechanical, and civil engineers.
• Review and coordinate construction document content with contractors and consultants as it relates to projects.
• Produce architectural documents for restoration as well as construction.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, as well as the desire to lead collaborative processes.
• Detail-oriented and committed to meeting deadlines.
• Proficient with Autdesk, AutoCAD and Adobe Suite (proficiency in Autodesk Revit is a plus).
• Project management experience working directly with clients and consultants.
• Provide space planning for agency occupants.
• Prepare presentation drawings as required.
• Program management and oversight of the Capitol Original Furniture Program.
• Supervise staff in the Capitol Archives Program.
• Research historical information as it relates to the Capitol.
• Attend Capitol Environs Commission meetings and provide support as needed. 

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Professional degree in architecture or architectural engineering and four years of experience in architectural planning, design or engineering, three years of which have been in a supervisory position; four years of experience in construction and/or inspection of construction of large scale projects; registration as a professional architect in Nebraska.

PREFERRED: 5-7 years' experience in historic preservation/restoration experience. Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit. Standard office software (Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite, PastPerfect etc.) preferred. Experience with 3D modeling / rendering and LEED AP certification preferred.
