This posting is for a part-time, temporary position.

Days/Times varies - Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

Craft/Technician Instructors must have experience at a minimum of journey level or technician level in their area of expertise (see above), OR a minimum of three (3) years experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction-related, maintenance-related, training program. Ability to work with diverse student, staff, and community populations and communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of appropriate related agencies and personnel. Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, with students, staff, and others. Ability to teach effectively utilizing a variety of instructional methodologies including lecture, lab work, hands on instruction, and other instructional methods and update instructional methods and materials and apply research studies in classroom, and lab settings. Proficiency in computer use and applications which support teaching and learning.

Examples of Work

Duties to include, but not limited to:
 

  • Delivery and facilitation of specialized NCCER craft training curriculum. Demonstrate mastery of each session's objectives. Link objectives to information.
  • Prepare for class by being familiar with curriculum, presentations, activities, equipment and tools, handouts and assessments used. Ensure needed equipment is available.
  • Clearly establish training objectives and communicate benefits to participants. Develop clear and easy to follow directions.
  • Provide well-organized presentations that are energetic and enthusiastic. Encourage active
  • , reinforce involvement of participants.
  • Manage classroom, fulfill assigned schedule, assist in the maintenance of accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation. Assist with any reporting responsibilities.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to participants. Correct behavior problems in classroom positively.
  • Provide student support and guidance. Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.
