Position Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the grounds and facilities maintenance of Walworth County facilities and grounds by operating various types of machinery and equipment while meeting departmental safety policies and procedures.
 
SCHEDULE
Days: Monday - Friday as needed
Work Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. as needed
Hours Per Shift: varies
Shifts Per Pay Period: varies

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
 
Perform basic landscape and lawn care duties, such as mowing designated areas; planting trees, shrubs, flowers and grass seed; manual weed removal and pruning.
 
Assist with snow removal from sidewalks and parking lots, applying salt and anti-icing agents on sidewalks and parking lots during winter operations.
 
Assist with basic facilities operations, such as special event set-ups, office moves, and other general labor activities.
 
Clean buildings and restrooms and stock facilities as required.
 
Operate various machinery and equipment.
 
Repair, maintain, paint and/or stain park buildings, structures, signs and equipment.
 
Remove garbage, litter and debris from buildings, parking lots and grounds.
 
Show respect and be willing to assist the public.
 
Ability to be on-call for snow removal operations (November – April).
 
Perform other duties as required.
 
Demonstrate a commitment to county safety and risk management efforts.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent competencies earned or in progress.  Experience working with commercial landscaping equipment. 
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to follow oral and written instructions with minimum direct supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively and exercise good judgment, courtesy and tact when dealing with the general public.
Ability to operate county vehicles in a safe and defensive manner.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relations with co-workers, the public, vendors and outside agencies.

Responds to others' requests for basic and general information.

Valid Driver's License
Good driving record.
