Purpose

Are you seeking an opportunity to work and learn with one of Colorado's Healthiest Business Award Winners? The selected candidate will work no more than 130 hours per month under the direction of the Total Comp Manager and the Wellness Coordinator to assist in carrying out the day-to-day operations of Jefferson County's employee wellness program which includes:

Jefferson County is an ideal setting for a wide range of recreation that fits a variety of lifestyles.  The Employee Wellness Program has been supporting employee health and wellbeing since 2004, receiving the Well Deserved Golden Apple from United Healthcare as the Healthiest Employer Award, Certified by Health Links as a Healthy Business Leader in 2017 and 2018 and Top 5 Finalist for the Governor's Award in 2017.  The program supports more than 3,000 employees at 52 locations, countywide. With five onsite fitness centers, engaging wellness challenges around career, social, financial, physical and community wellbeing. We encourage our workforce to build lasting healthy habits. This position will surely strengthen any student's or new professional's understanding of wellness and health promotion programs and services, and can fulfill a student's internship, if applicable.

Essential Duties

  • Assist in the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of wellness programs that includes behavior change programs, incentive programs, health seminars, special events, intranet based programming, etc.
  • Be familiar with fitness centers to demonstrate training and motivation to interested employees.
  • Perform fitness and body composition assessments.
  • Lead health, fitness and nutrition-related programs, either in a group or individualized setting.
  • Exposure to program marketing, promotion, reporting and budgeting.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with developing programs, classes, etc.
  • Assist in the tracking of program participation and completion and incentives.
  • Assist with coordination, communication and promotion of Annual Health Risk Assessments.
  • Assist with the Health and Wellness objectives or creating a health workplace initiative.
  • Work with as an individual and as a team to collaborate and partner with all initiatives.
  • Attend regularly scheduled team meetings.
  • Wellness Customer Service
  • Assist with reporting and evaluating aggregate data/statistics.

Qualifications

  • Students:
    • 3.0 or higher GPA
    • Junior or Senior in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Health Promotion, or related field.
  • Professional, corporate image with exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • A dynamic personality and a personal role model for fitness and health promotion.
  • Experience or course work in promoting events or programs. 
  • Personal training or group exercise instruction experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and other software.
  • Current CPR/AED & First Aid certification.
Offer of employment contingent of criminal history, MVR check and education verification.

 

Additional Information

Requires a valid driver's license within 30 days of hire date and you must not have any major violations, nor more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years.
