The Information Services Department is recruiting for a Systems Programmer III who administer, support, and maintain a variety of enterprise level information systems. The Systems Programmer III coordinate, maintain, upgrade, and support enterprise class hardware, software and network resources; positions require specialized types of expertise in Systems Programming, Database Administration, and Network Infrastructure Administration.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 
Must be available to work different shifts. The County pays an hourly differential for those employees working night shifts. 
 

Minimum Requirements

Education: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed, post high-school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in Computer Information Systems, Business/Public Administration, or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application.

-AND-
 
Experience: Three (3) years of work experience, within the last five (5) years, performing systems programming support. Experience must include ALL of the following:
  • Working on s/390 or z/OS.
  • Installation and administration of 3rd party software (e.g., scheduling, report distribution, tape administration).
  • Work in 24x7 Production Support environment.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer information systems or a closely related field.
  • Experience in administration and use of IDAA and associated tools such as IDAA loader.
  • Performance in tuning of zOS, WLM, and JES
  • Specialized training and certification in IBM z/Enterprise server (mainframe).
