This is advanced, skilled work in maintaining and repairing water meters, backflow devices and checking for low water pressure. Work is performed under general supervision. 

Essential Job Duties

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
 
               
·         Install and change out water meters; Install, relocate and repairs fire hydrants and exercise valves; install water service, taps, meter sets.
 
·         Repair water and sewer service leaks and main breaks.
 
·         Replace meter boxes and curb stops.
 
·         Accurately check for low water pressure.
 
·          Maintain records for locations of all utility mains and system appurtenances, prepare routine reports.
 
·         Accurately prepare technical reports,
 
·         May operate sewer cleaning equipment, sewer line and manhole repair equipment, if required.
 
·         May perform heavy manual functions, if required.
 
·         Foster positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.

Minimum Qualifications

High School graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two (2) years of professional, verifiable experience in a related function within the water or wastewater field. Must have a valid Florida Driver's License, Class B-CDL with Airbrakes and Tanker endorsements, within six months of hire.
 
 
Water/Sewer Network: Must obtain within six months of hire a State of Florida Level III Water Distribution System Operator's License.
 
Knowledge of specific department/division methods, operating procedures and processes. Knowledge of the City's policies, procedures, and practices. Skill in the use of hand and power tools and/or hand held computer. Skill in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications. Skill in policy interpretation and application. Ability to work independently when needed and to adhere to established policies and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.  Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to manage and prioritize routine, specialized and complex assignments and problems utilizing knowledge acquired through prior education, training, and experience. Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment. Ability to be on call during regular or off-duty hours as required. Punctuality and regular attendance are essential functions of this position.
