Description

The City of Olathe Public Works Department is seeking a Plant Maintenance Tech III to plan and execute technical maintenance work supporting the Plant Maintenance Supervisors and Plant Maintenance Manager in the completion of maintenance activities for the City of Olathe's Water Production and Wastewater Treatment facilities.  Work includes assigning, reviewing, and completing preventive and breakdown maintenance work orders and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to the assigned facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and document daily work assignments using eRPortal maintenance software.
  • Provide training and guidance to Maintenance Technician I and/or II staff in the completion of assigned maintenance work involving the adjustment, maintenance, part replacement, and repair of tools, equipment, and machines.
  • Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance on pumps, mixers, motors, valves, water lines, and other related devices; maintain electrical and mechanical equipment for Water Production and Wastewater Treatment facilities and pumping stations.
  • Participate in grounds and building maintenance, facility repair; perform troubleshooting, repair and replacement duties for electrical and mechanical equipment breakdowns.
  • Maintain a safe work environment according to City regulations in all jobs performed.
  • Operate a variety of equipment including trucks, hand tools, power tools, electronic test meters, pumps, and various other vehicles and equipment.
  • Participate in on-call duties and overtime as required.
  • Will participate in city-wide snow removal efforts.

Experience & Education

Experience and Education Guidelines Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
           
Experience: At least five years or equivalent experience in a related field such as HVAC maintenance, plumbing maintenance, electrical equipment maintenance, or mechanical maintenance.
 
Education:  High school graduate supplemented by specialized courses required. Vo-Tech or Associates degree preferred.
 
Licenses and Certificates:  May require one or more of the following depending on work assignment. Possession of a Class III Plant Maintenance Technologist certification within twenty-four months from hiring date. Must possess a valid Class B CDL driver's license with air brake endorsement within six months of employment.

Supplemental Information

Must successfully pass a background investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug screen.
