Work Schedule
Variable hours, including holidays, weekends, early mornings and evenings. The Reservoir is open 5:00 am to 9:00 pm, Monday through Sunday, from Memorial Day until Labor Day. 20 hr/week minimum.

Overall Job Objective

Act as a liaison with reservoir patrons and perform inspection on all watercraft entering and exiting the Boulder Reservoir. Protect the Boulder Reservoir water by thoroughly inspecting any watercraft entering the gates and ensuring watercraft on trailers leave drained.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs boat inspections and decontaminations according to the protocol set forth in training and certification process.
  • Log inspections accurately.
  • Educate boaters and patrons on the Aquatic Nuisance Species Prevention Program.
  • Sell watercraft permits.
  • Works as part of a team, attending training, orientation and/or staff meetings as needed.
  • Performs duties specific to facility as needed.
  • Assists other facility staff when needed, including in emergency situations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, plus ability to complete State of CO Stage I Boat
  • Inspection and Decontamination Training upon hire.
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer, email, e-calendar, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.
 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS – In addition to the required minimum qualifications
  • State of CO Stage I Boat Inspection and Decontamination training, extensive boat knowledge. Cash handling experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Spanish language proficiency.

WORKING CONDITIONS - Required Physical and Mental Effort, and Environmental
Conditions:

Physical Demands:  Ability to perform a wide range of strenuous, physical, and manual tasks in an outdoor environment. Physical ability to stand, walk, and kneel. Able to use a variety of long handled, manual, and power tools; and to operate equipment while working in and around moving traffic. Upper body strength to lift to 40 pounds daily and over 75 pounds on an occasional basis. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively in person.

Work Environment:  Frequently works outside with an exposure to a variety of weather conditions. Works in a setting subject to continuous interruptions and background noises. Ability to stand, crawl, crouch, climb, stoop and kneel in, around and under watercraft, vehicles and trailers on a regular basis.

Machines and equipment used but are not limited to the following:  hand tools, decontamination unit; standard office equipment including personal computers, telephones, calculators and copy/fax machines.
