Job Summary

Under the direction of the HMIS Manager, the Report Developer will be responsible for the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of ad-hoc and recurring reports as well as dashboards that utilize the underlying data stores for internal and external use.

Working with cross-functional teams, the Report Developer will participate to thoroughly analyze and clarify report requirements, make recommendations, and educate when necessary to meet business needs.

The Report Developer will also be required to assist the Data Analyst team in providing analytical support for report troubleshooting for end-users in the Los Angeles Continuum of Care (LA CoC).

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop or assist in the development, automation, and upgrading of queries, reports, and dashboards for internal and external users.
  • Assist in creating, designing, and formatting of technical specifications including descriptive text, process flows, and other information to describe required system and report changes for development and QA as needed.
  • Translate report requirements to implement the required reports and dashboards, created from potentially multiple data sources.
  • Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes.
  • Provide support as required to ensure availability and performance of developed reports and dashboards for internal and external users.
  • Assist senior staff and team members in assessing and improving business operations and processes.
  • Assist in assembling complex ideas, issues and observations into useful explanations and clear direction for the team.
  • Provide training and assistance to end-users to support team members as necessary.
  • Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members.
  • Participate with other teams to convert legacy reports.
  • Participate in meetings and business and data analysis activities with cross-functional teams to gather required reporting and dashboard requirements.
  • Must be able to perform duties with moderate to low supervision.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Intermediate or Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, SQL Server Data Tools, and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Performance tuning experience related to reporting queries.
  • Intermediate or Advanced knowledge of relational database management systems.
  • Programming/Scripting experience and knowledge of data/system analysis, software development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of HMIS preferred, but not required.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills of Excel, including VBA. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, be proactive, and exercise good judgment.
  • Flexibility to work with individuals with varying work styles.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Open to new ideas and approaches.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Analytic thinker.

Training & Experience

  • Minimum 1-3 years of analyzing business requirements, creating custom reports in SQL and SSRS.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related field is strongly preferred; however an equivalent combination of applicable training and experience may be substituted for education requirement.

AFLAC Supplemental Insurance
LAHSA offers this voluntary supplemental insurance to all full-time employees.  Plan options include personal accident, personal cancer indemnity, personal short-term disability, and personal life insurance plans.  Most premiums are pre-taxed and paid 100% by the employee through automatic bi-monthly payroll deductions.
 
ADP Flexible Spending Accounts
LAHSA offers employees this voluntary flexible spending account plan through ADP TotalSource.  Employees may elect to participate in dependent care or health care expense accounts.  All premiums are pre-taxed and paid 100% by the employee through automatic bimonthly payroll deductions.
 
LegalShield Legal Benefits
LAHSA offers this voluntary legal benefit which provides access to quality law firms.  Other benefits include personal, business and pre-existing conditions medical advice, 24/7 emergency assistance, letter and phone calls on your behalf, legal document review and standard will preparation.  All premiums are paid 100% by the employee through direct payment.
 
VPI Pet Insurance
LAHSA employees may purchase pet insurance through VPI.  This insurance provides a financial safety net for unexpected veterinary expenses.  All premiums are paid 100% by the employee through direct payment.
 
Life Insurance
LAHSA pays 100% of premium for $50,000 basic life insurance and AD&D coverage through ADP TotalSource. 
 
Voluntary Life Insurance
Employee may purchase additional life insurance through Lincoln Financial Group for themselves, a spouse, and/or dependent children. Employee benefit may be elected in increments of $ 10,000 not to exceed 5 times your annual salary or $500,000 whichever is less. Guarantee Issue amount: $100,000.
 
Long Term Disability
LAHSA pays 100% of premium for long term disability coverage through ADP TotalSource.
 
State Disability/Unemployment Insurance
LAHSA participates in both state insurance programs.
 
Pension Plan
LAHSA provides a 401A pension plan through Lincoln Financial Advisors Corp.  After 6 months of employment, employees are eligible for contributions of 5% of employees' salaries with a qualification date of 500 hours or 6 months after date of hire.
*Vesting schedule: 3 years = 100%, 2 years = 66%, 1 year = 33%
 
Deferred Compensation Plan
LAHSA provides an optional 457 Deferred Compensation Plan through Lincoln Financial Advisors Corp.  Employees may elect to defer up to $18,000 per year of their earned salary for income tax purposes.  Deferred earnings are not taxable until the time of withdrawal from the plan and/or retirement.
 
Vacation
Full-time employees accrue vacation leave at a rate of 2 weeks (10 days) per year, with an additional week (5 days) increase after 5 years of employment.  Maximum accrual for vacation leave is 200 hours.
Sick Leave
Full-time employees accrue sick leave at a rate of 12 days per year.  Maximum accrual for sick leave is 160 hours.
 
Personal Sick Leave
Full-time employees may use up to forty hours (5 days) of sick leave per calendar year for personal use. Personal sick leave can only be taken if the employee maintains a minimum of twenty-four hours of sick leave.
 
Paid Holidays
Full-time employees receive 12 paid holidays and 1 "floating" holiday per calendar year.
 
Parking
Employee parking is paid by LAHSA in an established nearby garage. Employees may elect to take public transportation which is also covered up to the amount of the company parking lot.
